Nickel Molybdenum Foam

Nickel Molybdenum Foam

The strength and corrosion resistance of nickel is improved by the addition of molybdenum in solid solution. For example, 72 wt.% Ni-28 wt.% Mo is the most widely used Ni-Mo alloy. It has superior resistance to corrosion by reducing acids, in particular hydrochloric acid at all concentrations up to the boiling point, and to high-temperature gaseous hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride.

Nickel molybdenum foam, based on Ni-Mo alloy, is a highly porous alloy material which can be used in various chemical industries.

Note: The other sizes can be manufactured in accordance with the clients' request.

Special Properties

  • Heat resistance—The resistance to high temperature of nickel molybdenum foam is above 1100°C
  • Electromagnetic shielding—nickel foam can shield electromagnetic waves of 90dB.
  • With uniform 3D network structure, fluid flow and performance are stable.
  • Sound absorption—as its porous structure, it has the characteristics of sound absorption and insulation.

Applications

As its uniform pore structure, high porosity, excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance, nickel molybdenum foam can be used in chemical power source filed, chemical engineering field, electrochemical field, functional material field, etc. Herein, we mainly introduce its application in electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen.

Nickel Molybdenum Foam

Nickel molybdenum foam can increase the roughness of the electrode and the surface area of the electrode; thus, the number of catalytic active centers is increased, and the apparent catalytic activity of the electrode is improved. These characteristics make it a good option in HER (Hydrogen evolution reaction) electrodes to produce hydrogen. The electrode made of nickel molybdenum foam can work stably for a long time under high temperature, high concentration reduction, high current density and other conditions, and it exhibits relatively high HER activity (overpotential can reach the lowest values lower than 300mV, minimum overpotential is as low as 100-200mV).
