- Nickel Foam
Nickel Foam is a low density permeable metallic material with a cellular structure containing 75-95 vol.% of pores. The material has the characteristics of small bulk density, large specific surface area, good energy absorption, high specific strength, and specific rigidity. The through-hole body has strong heat exchange and heat dissipation capabilities, good sound absorption performance, and excellent permeability and permeability.
Pore size: 0.1-10mm
Density: 0.1-0.8g/cm3
Porosity: 50-98%
Pixels per inch: 5-120ppi
Through-hole rate: ≥98%
Thickness: 0.3-45.0mm
Size: 0-500mm
Note: The other sizes can be manufactured in accordance with the clients' request.
As its uniform pore structure and high porosity, nickel foam has many advantages, such as high air permeability, high specific surface area, and capillary force. Thus, it can be used as a functional material for the production of fluid filters, atomizers, catalysts, battery electrode plates, and heat exchangers, etc.
Ni foam has high porosity structure with an interlinked 3D scaffold of Ni metal, possessing particular features i.e. light material, high porosity, built-in strength, high resistance to corrosion, and favorable electrical and thermal conductivity. These features make it a good material in battery electrodes, especially in NiMH batteries and the batteries are widely used in the mobile phone, portable computer, electric bicycle, electric scooter, hybrid cars.
The 3D porous materials represented by nickel foam have broad application prospects in the fuel cell field due to their excellent physical properties (high conductivity, high porosity and high specific surface area, good gas distribution). Nickel foam can be used as bipolar plate enhancement materials for proton exchange membrane fuel cell, electrode interconnectors for solid oxide fuel cells, and electrode materials in electrolysis such as hydrogen electrolyzes.
The open cell structure, low pressure drop, intrinsic strength and thermal shock resistance qualities make nickel foam an option for catalyst support in catalytic converters, combustion and filters.
Because of the high conductivity, high mechanical strength and the good flexibility, Nickel foam is widely used in energy conversion and storage applications. More importantly, nickel foam is highly porous with randomly located pores that are between 50 and 500μm in size and that meander from one side of the foam to the other, resulting in a very large surface area that can effectively catch particles in the air passing through the filter due to van der Waals forces. Therefore, nickel foam may act as a good filter.
