Iron nickel (Fe-Ni) alloys are among the most important soft magnetic alloy systems. Depending on the Ni content, which varies in the range from 30 to 80wt%, its properties is changed. For example, permeability is maximized for high Ni concentrations, saturation magnetization is maximized for medium Ni concentrations, and electrical resistance is maximized for low Ni concentrations.

Iron nickel foam, based on iron nickel alloy, is a highly porous metallic material with a cellular structure containing more than 60vol.% of pores and with the features of excellent thermal conductivity, good electrical conductivity, large porosity, and large specific surface area.

  • Electron wave shielding—It shields the electron wave around 90dB.
  • Thermal conductivity—It has excellent thermal conductivity.
  • Heat resistance—It is resistant to high temperatures up to 600-1000℃.
  • Chemical resistance—It has excellent acid and alkali corrosion resistance, salt spray resistance.
  • Network structure—It has a homogeneous three-dimensional network structure with filtering effect and the flow stability of gas and fluid is super strong.

Applications

As its excellent mechanical properties and the network structure, iron nickel foam can be used in exhaust gas purifier carrier materials, battery electrode materials, all kinds of catalyst carrier, especially for high temperature resistance and acid and alkali corrosion filtering material, the surface of the infrared burner materials, all kinds of industrial and civil heating material drying equipment, etc.
